The city of Springfield, United States, recently announced an emergency masking order for the residents. Businesses are required to mask all their employees within the premises.

The occupancy restrictions are removed, but face covering or mask required for all the staff and customers can remove the mask when drinking or eating at restaurants. The self-serve buffets are allowed, while counter seating is not permitted.

The city has only removed occupancy limitation and not masking in the Springfield Mo Mask Mandate 2021 statement. It is still required because the city is shifting into the second phase of COVID-19 and needs to move ahead to recovery.

What is the Springfield Mo Mask Mandate?

Last year in April 2020, Springfield was under serious lockdown, owing to the severe outbreak of COVID-19 cases. In April 2021, the city is gradually shifting to normal life with its Road to Recovery Program.

Recently, the authorities have passed a circular during the onset of the Yellow Phase or second phase. The next step to recovery involves:

  • Removing occupancy restrictions in public places.
  • Allowing self-serve buffets.
  • Gathering of 500 individuals.
  • Continuing to exclude counter seating and extend the masking program.

The Springfield Mo Mask Mandate 2021 extends the masking program until the city shifts to the green phase. The masking or face covering program is mandated to prevent the city from shifting back into the red phase, which entails complete lockdown.

The red phase involves 40 cases per day with 50 hospitalizations. The green phase requires daily case counts with hospitalizations, not more than 20 cases. Two of the three thresholds must be met by the city before entering into the Yellow Phase with better improvement in the 3rd criterion.

What does the Springfield Mo Mask Mandate 2021 include?

If you are from Springfield, you must know the authorities’ criteria in the new mandate. According to the new mandate 2021 passed on April 2021:

  • There will be no occupancy limitations, and it is removed.
  • Public gatherings must not be more than 500 people.
  • Face covering and masking needed for the working staff, employees, and also customers. Patrons can only remove face-covering in public when eating or drinking.
  • Self-serve buffets are now allowed while the counter seating facility is removed in the Springfield Mo Mask Mandate 2021.

What are the Three Phases, and What does it Mean?

  • Red Phase – It involves forty new cases per day with at least 50 hospitalizations
  • Green Phase – It involves less than 20 new cases per day with hospitalization, and 50% of the residents 16-years and above must be immunized.
  • Yellow Phase – Two of the three thresholds must be met to enter into Yellow Phase.

The hospitalizations and case counts are based on a seven-day rolling average, and the third threshold of 25% of the population above 16-year must be vaccinated is not far to achieve.
